How is the pool sanitized?
WaTiki® Indoor Waterpark Resort meets the South Dakota State levels for chlorine. Chlorine levels fluctuate based on a number of factors such as body oils, bodily fluids, and the number of swimmers in the pool. We also use a UV filtration system for our water as a supplemental sanitation step that is continuously cycled. The use of UV has been proven very effective in eliminating any biological matter, including viruses that may be in the water. After thoroughly filtering and sanitizing the water, chlorine is reintroduced before being sent back into the pool. In addition, all WaTiki® Waterpark pools are monitored 24 hours a day with Ecolab’s state-of-the-art system management. This ensures our water is always safe to swim! To assure proper operation, our maintenance staff, consisting of NSPF Certified Pool Operators manually tests each of our pools every two hours during operating hours (minimum Health Department requirement is 1 test per day), more often if swimmer count is higher. This helps us to assure the computer systems are accurate, and if necessary, allows us to recalibrate and/or adjust any levels as needed. Our health department records are accessible to the public and have remained flawless throughout the entire life of the waterpark.
How do you regulate the air quality in the waterpark?
WaTiki® Indoor Waterpark’s air handling system consists of two large units designed to consistently treat our air quality. Each unit filters, heats, and dehumidifies the air as it is recycled through the waterpark. The process of dehumidifying is notably important as it helps to eliminate any contaminants that may be present.
